During the remapping procedure, we carefully monitor and record a range of critical parameters. These include Air Fuel Ratio (AFR), throttle position, spark advance, throttle plate position, knock detection, engine oil temperature, engine coolant temperature, exhaust gas temperature, and injector duty cycle.
Through the bike’s OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) system, we can log most of these parameters, while others may require the use of external analogue output sensors. This data provides valuable insights into how the manufacturer has configured the bike and helps us identify areas where improvements can be made.
It is not uncommon for us to discover that manufacturers have implemented throttle opening restrictions or imposed torque limiters in their mapping, often in an attempt to create a more subdued power delivery or meet stringent emissions standards.
By analyzing this data and understanding the manufacturer’s choices, we can develop remapping strategies that address these limitations and optimize your bike’s performance.
