How ECU remapping works on marine engines

Most modern inboard, sterndrive and outboard engines are controlled by an ECU running a fuel and ignition map, in much the same way as a car or van. We connect to the engine’s diagnostic port, read the original file, and write back a custom-calibrated map tailored to that specific engine and hull — not a generic file lifted from an unrelated setup.

More power and better throttle response on the water

A remap can bring more usable power and torque across the rev range, sharper throttle response coming onto the plane, and a noticeably crisper feel at the helm — particularly useful for planing hulls that need to get up on top of the water quickly and stay there.

Worth knowing: gains on the water are felt as much through throttle response and time-to-plane as they are through outright top speed.

Fuel efficiency matters even more at sea

There’s no filling station around the corner offshore. A remap that recalibrates fuelling more efficiently across the rev range can meaningfully extend range on a tank, which matters whether you’re running a leisure boat, a fishing charter, or anything that spends long hours at cruising speed rather than sat at idle.
