Alarms & Immobilisers Questions

Will a Thatcham-approved alarm reduce my insurance?+

Many insurers offer a discount for Thatcham-approved security (a Category 1 alarm and immobiliser, or a Category 2 immobiliser), though this varies by provider. We can supply written confirmation of the install standard for you to give to your insurer.

What's the difference between an alarm and an immobiliser?+

An immobiliser prevents the engine from starting without correct authentication. An alarm detects intrusion or tampering and alerts you/sounds a siren. Many of our vehicle alarms installation packages combine both.

Can these systems be defeated by relay attacks?+

Our Pandora and CAN-Phantom installations specifically include relay attack protection, addressing the method used in the majority of modern keyless vehicle thefts.

Is the installation visible on my car?+

No — fully hidden fitting is standard practice for us. The CAN-Phantom in particular has no visible keyfob, siren or LED, making it very difficult for a thief to even know it's fitted.

How long does fitting take?+

Most alarm and immobiliser installations are completed within a few hours, depending on the vehicle and system chosen. We'll confirm timing when you book.
