Both are Thatcham-approved and monitored 24/7. The S5 adds driver detection by card or phone. Choose it if your insurer specifies S5.

What's the difference between the S5 and S7?+

Both are Thatcham-approved trackers with 24/7 monitoring. The S5 adds driver recognition, so the system knows when an authorised driver is present. If your insurer specifies S5, you need an S5.

Can I use my phone instead of a card?+

Yes. As well as the Bluetooth Driver Detection card, the SmarTrack S5 works with the D-iD smartphone app.

Does the S5 stop the car from being driven?+

No. The S5 is a tracker, not an immobiliser. It alerts the control centre if the car moves without an authorised driver. Pair it with a Pandora or CAN-Phantom immobiliser for layered protection.

How much is the subscription?+

The monitoring subscription is paid separately once the tracker is installed: 1 year £159, 2 years £269, 3 years £369, duration of vehicle ownership £649, or £14.49 a month by Direct Debit.
