The Mk7 Golf GTI is one of the most popular and rewarding remaps in South Wales. The 2.0 TSI EA888 engine is famously responsive to tuning — delivering significant gains with no hardware modifications on Stage 1.

Stage 1 & Stage 2
The EA888 2.0 TSI is built with headroom. Factory ECU maps are deliberately conservative to suit global fuel grades and maintain warranty margins. A specialist remap unlocks the power the engine was designed to produce.
A Stage 1 remap on the Volkswagen Golf GTI requires no hardware modifications. Our specialist software recalibrates boost, fuelling and ignition timing within the engine’s safe limits, delivering instant, driveable gains you’ll feel from the first drive.
Stage 2 requires hardware modifications — typically a performance exhaust, uprated intercooler or induction kit. Combined with a custom ECU map, this unlocks the full potential of the 2.0 TSI EA888 engine.
What Changes
On the Mk7 GTI we recalibrate boost pressure, fuelling, ignition timing and the throttle map. The result is a broader, flatter torque curve that pulls harder from lower revs and holds on to the redline — transforming how the car drives day-to-day.
Factory boost is set conservatively. We raise it to the level the turbo and internals can comfortably sustain, unlocking power that was always there.
Fuel delivery is recalibrated to match the new boost levels precisely — giving a cleaner burn, better response and improved efficiency under light loads.
Timing is advanced where the engine can safely benefit, improving combustion efficiency and delivering more torque across the full rev range.
The factory throttle map is deliberately muted. We sharpen it so the car responds the moment you press the pedal — no lag, no hesitation.
Common Questions
Pricing depends on the specific variant and stage. Contact us for a quote — we’re competitively priced and include a lifetime software warranty on every remap. Call 01792 732 062 or fill in the booking form.
A quality remap modifies the ECU’s calibration data rather than adding any external hardware. While a dealership with specialist equipment could detect a changed map, it leaves no physical trace and does not trigger warning lights.
Both options are available. Our workshop in Ammanford has a MAHA 4WD dyno for before/after verification. Our mobile technicians also cover the whole of South Wales and can come to your home or workplace.
Yes — it's one of the best. The EA888 engine is shared across VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda platforms and has been tuned extensively. It responds consistently well and the factory map has significant headroom.
Under normal driving it can actually improve economy slightly as torque is available at lower revs, meaning less throttle needed. Under hard driving, consumption increases as you're using the extra power.
