Remapping for the upper Swansea Valley
Driving from Ystradgynlais means hills in every direction: the A4067 climbing north past Craig-y-nos towards Sennybridge, the valley roads down to Pontardawe, and the lanes up to Coelbren and Cwmtwrch. Plenty of local vehicles also tow. Winters up the valley are harder than on the coast, and a lot of local drivers choose 4x4s and all-wheel-drive cars for it. Those need a true four-wheel dyno to be measured properly — driving only one axle gives misleading figures and can upset the drivetrain. Head west out of Ystradgynlais through Cwmtwrch and Cwmllynfell towards Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen, then follow the signs for Cwmgors.
