Remapping for Llanelli drivers

Llanelli brings us two kinds of car. Most are daily drivers doing the M4 towards Swansea or the A484 towards Carmarthen, where a well-built Stage 1 or an economy map makes a modern diesel or small turbo petrol pull more cleanly in traffic and sit more easily at motorway speed. The rest belong to enthusiasts — not surprising with Pembrey Circuit a few miles up the coast.

Dyno time before a Pembrey track day

If you run at Pembrey, a dyno session is the honest way to know what the car is actually doing. We measure power and torque at the wheels, log what the engine is doing under full load, and look for the things that end a track day early: a boost leak, fuelling that runs lean at the top end, or intake temperatures that climb run after run.

Short trips and the DPF

Lots of short runs around town — out to Trostre and Dafen, the school run, the retail parks — rarely let a diesel particulate filter get hot enough to finish a regeneration. The filter loads up, the warning light appears, and the first quote is often for a new filter. Before you spend anything, read our guides on DPF problems and EGR valve faults. We diagnose the cause first, because a blocked filter, a failing sensor and a tired EGR valve look similar and need very different fixes.

Getting to us from Llanelli

We are at Unit 1F, Cwmgors Industrial Estate, Park Howard Rd, Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen, Ammanford, SA18 1PA — about 20 miles from Llanelli, roughly 35 minutes.

Most people take the A4138 to the M4 at Junction 48 (Hendy), stay on for one junction to Junction 49 at Pont Abraham, then follow the A483 north to Ammanford and the A474 east through Glanamman and Garnant to Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen.
